I'm back!

After 3 weeks of an awful cough, cold and chesty mayhem today I started running again.

It was so hard not to just give up especially being back at work, my energy levels were low and the thought of starting all over again was not something I relished.

So tonight after a stressful day at work I thought what the hell, despite the rain I would go out for a run. Partly to clear my head and also because I knew if I stayed away much longer I would give up completely.

I started back on week 3 of the program which was where I had left of , this consisted of a 90 second run, 90 second walk, 3 min run and 3 min walk repeated twice. I actually did better than I though I would, both the 90 second runs were completed but the 3 min ones were a bit of a struggle. I achieved 2 mins 30 on each, considering I haven't ran in 3 weeks I am actually quite pleased.

So its back on track from this point onwards, the weight loss is still going well at 1 stone 4lbs in total so far with another 3 stone to go, sometimes it feels like an impossible task but every day I look in the mirror and see a little less of me it spurs me on.

It feels great to be back!

Minor service disruption

Came down with a stinking cold last Tuesday and all running has been suspended until I stop coughing and spluttering.

I have to say I am devastated, everything had been going so well and week 3 first run was amazing then BANG this bloody nasty cold arrived.

I am counting down the days to start again and will keep my blog updated the second I start running again which should be in the next 5 days.

Week three, first run.

This morning was the first run of week three; this consisted of a routine based on 90 seconds running, 90 seconds walking followed by three mins running and three mins walking. This was repeated twice with a 5 min warm up power walk and a 5 min cool down power walk.

To say I was worried about this week was an understatement, the 90 seconds running last week was a struggle I felt, really didn’t think I would complete anything this week especially the first time out.

I had already put off the session from Sunday, partly due to my long recovery from Friday night! I went out with the girls and let’s just say there were jagermeister shots involved and some singing on the karaoke….I was let’s just say…tipsy!!
I also during the course of the night managed to acquire 4 blisters due to my stupidly large heels, as someone who has lived most of her life in Dr Martens this is not really a sensible option but still I keep trying to attain the elusive ‘looking like a lady’ image.

Saturday arrived with a hangover and unfortunately a very poorly hubby, he has declined a little over the last two weeks and been back to the doc to have his medication upped but Saturday he had declined further. As a result my weekend didn’t exactly go as planned but hey that’s real life, its sometimes a bit pants.
Anyway the run was postponed until today and off I went at 6am, it went really well. I completed all the runs even the 3 mins!
It really is all about doing as the podcast tells you, the lovely lady on the podcast gives you advice and for this week it was to pace yourself, it was all about taking your time and completing your run. As a result my distance was shorter than last week but I kept up the running for longer which was the desired outcome. Laura (the voice) let me know when I was halfway through and encouraged me all the way and kept my timings for me, this means you don’t have to think about anything other than dragging yourself along.
I can’t believe how much I am enjoying this; never in a million years did I think I would be able to run for three mins!!
